Dental Implants
If you want a dental restoration that
looks and feels as though it is really a
natural part of yoru mouth, dental implants
may be right for you. A dental implant
is an articicial tooth root which is made of
titanium. your jaw bone fuses to the
implant to provide a secure platform for an
artificial toorth (prosthesis). It
often takes a few months for the jawbone to
firmly attach to the implant. Once it
has attached, the abutment is placed
(abutments are connecting pieces that join
the prosthesis to the implat).
After this has been completed, your final
restoration (implant crown, bridge, or
denture) will be attached.
Dental implants can replace a single
tooth, several teeth, or all of the teeth in
your mouth and the teeth can be permanent or
removable depending upon the patient's
preference.
Dental implants often feel much more
natural than traditional dentures and other
dental restorations. Unlike dentures
and partials, which are usually loose and
unstable, dental implants can provide a
permanent and stable tooth replacement.
